Aftermath Typhooon Yolanda
Aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda

Climate change has forever changed the world’s weather patterns. Category five typhoons and storm surges, which were once considered a rarity, are now becoming common place. As polar ice caps melt, the average monthly rainfall is expected to double and ocean levels can surge for up to 10 feet. For low-lying lands, this means none but frequent flooding.

Around 20 typhoons hit the Philippines annually. Some of these typhoons cause soil erosion and deadly raging flash floods that can destroy lives and property. Still, the worst floods that hit the country are caused by climate change. Strong and devastating typhoons, beefed up by monsoon rains, are evidences of climate change’s catastrophic effects.

The worst is yet to come

Climate change has worsened during the last 10 years. Thus, experts are convinced that the worst is yet to come.

Place that scenario side-by-side the Filipino dream of building and owning a home. Without proper preparation, the home that you worked hard for cannot be safe from flooding. All your hard earned property can vanish in an instant.

A way to save your home

One way to secure your home from flooding is to build it on a higher ground — which is expensive and problematic in the first place. Another solution is to move from one place to another with your possessions getting lost in the process.

For all your worries, there is a less expensive way to keep your home safe.

Introducing the RS Demountable Barriers

The Real Safe Flood Control Asia (FCA) is proud to introduce the RS demountable flood barriers. These are state-of-the-art barriers made up of aluminum panels that can withstand tremendous amount of pressure from floodwaters and debris. It is a German-engineered product that is specially designed to control floods in various conditions.

It has been tested and certified by FM Global, a Johnston, Rhode Island-based mutual insurance company that specializes in loss prevention services.

Components of the barriers

The barriers’ components are simple and lightweight so that even an average person can set it up within minutes before a flood. Such components can be stored within minimal space and can be maintained easily. The said components are:

  1. aluminum panels which serve as main barriers against floodwaters;
  2. compression clamps used to lock the barriers in place;
  3. side channels that keep the barriers upright;
  4. rubber seals, also known as the compression plugs, that keep barriers watertight;
  5. back brace (located at the aluminum panels’ rear) that provide stability and support for longer panels;
  6. a split system in where sometimes longer panels are needed and to keep it from buckling from the pressure of the floods a split component is introduced; and
  7. a foundation base with steel bolts that keep the structure in place. The bolts are made of stainless steel and are rust resistance.

Height of barriers

The maximum height of barriers for a residential home is more than 3 meters, while the standard length is 2.3 meters. However, the minimum height is 1.5 meters depending on the severity of flood.

The company engineers’ first task is to inspect a home and make an assessment of its required flood protection. Then, they will take measurements of materials required for the home. After all preliminary inspections, Flood Control Asia will send an itemized invoice to the client for his approval.

For a client whose only intention is to protect his home’s interior, the flood barriers can also be installed on doors and windows.

Once the contract has been signed, the flood barrier construction will begin to immediately protect your home and its amenities. The warranty is valid for one year as long as the barriers are not altered in any form.

Cost-effective in the long run

The flood barriers’ prices are reasonable. All materials used are first class and are imported from Germany. The barriers last for fifty years, while the rubber components can last from six to eight years.

While other companies advertise that their product is the cheapest, there is no guarantee to its quality. In the long run, it is more expensive to maintain and repair cheaper products. With RS demountable barriers, the safety of your homes and loved ones are both guaranteed.

So, are you prepared for the coming flood that can cause destruction to your hard-earned and beloved home?
